lyrics

Gloomy Winter.

Gloomy Winter's noo awa' soft the westlin breezes blow.
Among the birks O Stanley shaw the mavis sings fu cheery O.
Sweet the craw flowers early bell decks Glenifers dewy dell.
Blooming like your bonny sell, my ain my eartless deary O'.

Come my lassie let us stay, o'er Glenkilloch's sunny brae,
and blithly spend the gowden day, mid joys that ne'r can weary O.
Trees may bud and birds may sing.
Flowers may bloom and vergers spring.
But joy to me they canna bring.
Unless wi' ye my deary O.

Towering o'er the newton woods.
lavrocks fan the snow white clouds
Siller socs wi' downy buds adorn the banks sae breary O.
Around the silvern fairy nooks,
Feathery breckans fringe the rocks.
Beneath the brae the burny dukes and ilka thing is cheery O.
